Reverend And The Makers fuse indie rock groove with electronic dance rhythms to create something just so damn cool. The band centres around Jon McClure who had already established himself as a poet and talented songwriter prior to their existence.
Formed in Sheffield during 2005 by McClure, Reverend And The Makers were soon head hunted following the furore caused by the newly emerged Arctic Monkeys and were offered a reported £150,000 to become their clones. Refusing to dilute their own sound and live in another band’s shadow, the offer was declined and the band decided to make their own way. They were rewarded for the decision immediately after selling out their gig at essential Sheffield venue Plug where they were spotted and signed to Wall Of Sounds Records on their own terms.
Their debut album The State Of Things would be released in 2007. An instant smash, the record hit #5 in the UK album charts and earned them a three night stint supporting Oasis at Wembley Stadium. They have contined their commercial success with album A French Kiss In The Chaos (2009), @Reverend Makers (2012) and Thirty Two (2014) all breaking the Top 20. Their latest album was released last year and entitled Mirrors.
