In this talk Dr Sam Hirst explores Byron’s life at Newstead Abbey near Nottingham, and how his time there informed his poetry. This talk will look at various poems and how they reflect his fascinating life.


The talk is taking place in Rooms 6&7 on Floor 2, and booking is essential. Drinks can be purchased at the café in Nottingham Central Library.


Nottingham’s Byron is a programme of events delivered by the University of Nottingham in partnership with Nottingham Central Library and Nottingham Museum and Galleries Service to celebrate the 200th anniversary of Byron’s death.  These events will focus on Byron’s connections to Nottingham.
