Jah Wobble

Drawing on global influences; the hypnotic bass riffs of Jah Wobble take influence from reggae, dub and punk. A founding member of Public Image Ltd and leader of Invaders Of The Heart – his distinctive sound and style has marked him as one of the most important four string players of all time.

Born John Joseph Wardle, his stage name was bestowed upon him by Sid Vicious after a drunken night out. Bassist Jah Wobble would team up with John Lydon following the disintegration of Sex Pistols, and together with Keith Levene and Jim Walker; they would combine to become the first incarnation of PiL and become one of the most influential post punk bands ever.

Public Image: First Issue (1978) would include their Top 10 single "Public Image", and second album Metal Box (1979), including vital track “Death Disco” is widely considered a true masterpiece record.

Wardle would form Invaders Of The Heart in 1982, and enjoys the intense support of a truly dedicated following. Their album Rising Above Bedlam was nominated for a Mercury Music Prize and success would continue with the critically acclaimed sophomore record Take Me To God.

Wardle also runs his very own independent label 30 Hertz Records.
