Gaz Coombes shot to fame in the 90s as the face of indie icons Supergrass. The band’s upbeat rock helped define the sound of the decade as they were central to the Britpop movement. Following Supergrass, Coombes now works, performs, and records as a solo artist.
His solo output includes the records Here Come the Bombs (2012), Matador (2015) , World's Strongest Man (2018) and Turn the Car Around (2023).
Just Gaz with a (deep) pocket full of songs, a collection of instruments & a superb voice - this stripped-back acoustic set was a delight. Treated to a catalogue of songs from his solo & Supergrass career the show was both intimate and charming. It takes guts to perform to a packed out room on your own, with no band to bounce off, and Gaz pulled it off. His voice is powerful and each song was a performed beautifully.

Gaz Coombes, Newhampton Arts Centre, Wolverhampton - 29th May 2019
A few minor technical sound issues but otherwise a brilliant gig.
