Blast from the past

Very enjoyable evening of music by Focus. Good musicians with a nice sense of humour coming from Mr Van Leer.

Focus…50 not out

Great gig! 4 superb musicians on top of their game. Great venue, sound, light, set list, and atmosphere. Don’t ever retire Thijs. Saw Focus in 1973 at Sheffield Uni, the band still very faithful to those roots, and give audiences exactly what they want.

Focus at Westgate hall

Good performance by the band, small venue with poor acoustics.

Still brilliant.

Amazing too see focus again, 46 years after the first time and they are still brilliant. Great venue, great PA, really close to the band. I will see them again, every chance I get.

Great Performance

I have to say that I never thought I would see Focus play a gig. I liked their music from hearing Sylvia back in 197? . The Westgate Hall is not a big venue and so we were fairly close to the action. The band shuffled onto the tiny stage and settled in for an evening of brilliant music. They are all very talented. Thjis directed operations from his Hammond organ, Pierre was very dynamic on this drums, Menno is an incredibly gifted guitarist and a worthy successor to Jan Akkerman, and Udo held things together on the bass. I recognised many of the tracks they played which was great. The only downside was the slightly self-indulgent solos each member had which were just too long. Overall great gig enjoyed by a highly receptive audience.
