Fish

Veteran prog rock master Fish is best known for his work with Marillion. Working with the band for seven years he has gone on to enjoy an incredible solo career expanding on his deft lyrical and musical skill.

Typically, his songs explore exciting uncharted sonic territory whilst also reciting long lyrical prose and poetry.

This December he returns to the stages of the UK to debut the brand new studio album Weltschmerz in addition to a full performance of the album Clutching At Straws as a 30th anniversary celebration of the classic Marillion Album. This follows the incredible sold out 2015 - 2016 tour which saw Misplaced Childhood also celebrated in a similar manner.

Scheduled for released in November 2017, Weltschmerz has been announced to be the final Fish album as he gears up for his retirement with a final farewell tour also currently being planned. Somewhat melancholic, the album title is a German word for a sense of world weariness.
Make sure you get to O2 Academy Bristol on Wednesday 13th of December to enjoy this incredibly event.

Edinburgh son Derek William Dick picked up the nickname Fish early in life due to the huge amount of time spent in the bath. He was instrumental in the rise and subsequent success of neo progressive rock band Marillion before enjoying a highly successful solo career.

Fish started the gig with a blast! that was as good as any encore. His musicians could not match Marillion sound for sound but the big man can still put on a good show and owned the stage as you would expect him to. His band played very well to his new music and understandingly Fish wrote and sang them to his voice limitations but overall producing a very good sound that could stand the test of time. Still Marillion probably sound better than the current line up but don’t get me wrong we were highly entertained by the big man and it was very nostalgic!!
